Program Overview

Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is the most common type of lymphoma. In this activity, two experts discuss disparities in care for patients with DLBCL. They will address topics such as barriers in care, participation in clinical trials, and improved treatment landscape. This activity will conclude with a discussion on tools to use for best practice.

Target Audience

This program is intended for hematologists, oncologists, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals who treat and manage patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma.

This activity is eligible for credit through September 21, 2023. After this date, this activity will expire and no further credit will be awarded.

Faculty Biographies

James O. Armitage, MD
Joe Shapiro Professor of Medicine

Dr. James Armitage received his medical degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center, where he also completed his internship and residency in internal medicine. In addition, he completed a fellowship in hematology/oncology at the University of Iowa. Dr. Armitage is the Joe Shapiro Professor of Medicine at the University of Nebraska Medical Center where he developed the Bone Marrow Transplant program and the Nebraska Lymphoma Study Group. He has also served as Vice Chair of Internal Medicine, Chief of the Section of Oncology and Hematology, Chair of the Department of Internal Medicine, and Dean of the College of Medicine.

Dr. Armitage is board certified in internal medicine, medical oncology, and hematology, and is a fellow of the American and the Royal College of Physicians, ASCO, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and American Society for Transplantation and Cellular Therapy (ASTCT). He has served on many national/international oncology committees, including the United States National Cancer Advisory Board and the French National Cancer Advisory Board. He is past president of both the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Society of Blood and Marrow Transplantation. Dr. Armitage has published more than 600 papers, written 115 chapters, and is editor/co-editor of 33 books. He currently edits the ASCO Post and has received numerous honors.

Loretta J. Nastoupil, MD

Dr. Loretta Nastoupil received her medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. She completed her internal medicine training at Washington University and her hematology/medical oncology fellowship at Emory University. Dr. Nastoupil is an Associate Professor in the Department of Lymphoma/Myeloma at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. In addition, she is the Deputy Chair of the Lymphoma/Myeloma Department and Section Chief of the indolent lymphoma and new drug development teams, which are in line with her research interests of designing and conducting prospective trials aimed at exploiting the immune system to eradicate B-cell lymphoma. Dr. Nastoupil is also interested in real-world evidence and has been involved in exploring outcomes among patients treated with standard of care CAR T-cell therapy.
